Amelia Laster, AKBD, Jagoe Homes’ Design & Merchandising Manager, embellished each of these Model Homes with intricate home decor. The National Craftsman in The Reserve at Deer Valley utilizes a popular trend in 2020 – biophilic design. This is a concept meant to increase a homeowner’s connectivity to the natural environment through the direct use of nature in design.

With every Model Home that I design, I try to think of our homeowners – the demographic of the buyer and the end use of each space. How would I use this space with my family? Our Model Homes in Lone Oak Village and The Reserve at Deer Valley don’t have designated spaces for use as a home office, so I incorporated home office spaces into other rooms to serve as ideas for those who may find themselves working remotely. I feel this shows how our floor plans can be easily adapted to specific needs without added cost.

 Biophilic design started popping up in my courses three years ago at the International Builders Show. I loved the idea of connecting space and nature and worked to incorporate natural elements throughout the home.

Amelia use another popular trend when she designed the Blevins Farm Model Home – Modern Farmhouse. This particular style takes the comfortable, relaxed style of Farmhouse and adds modern touches, such as neutral color schemes.

Blevins Farm and Turnberry at Berkshire both possess a modern farmhouse vibe, each with their own spin. Modern Farmhouse is very much my personal style.

The Model Home in Turnberry at Berkshire was in the 2020 Parade of Homes in Evansville & Newburgh, IN. This home is loaded with luxurious features such as wainscoting detail, shiplap fireplace and deluxe kitchen with decorative hood, quartz countertops and large island.

One feature of a Jagoe Home that always gets noticed is the abundance of natural light and our use of large windows. In The Reserve at Deer Valley Model Home, I installed a plant shelf on the dining room windows. It’s the perfect spot for herbs, succulents, or small houseplants.

We also recently had a layout change in the upstairs hallway of the National Craftsman (The Reserve at Deer Valley Model Home) to accommodate the HVAC system. I wanted to call attention to this detail by adding wallpaper and showcasing a shelving display.  Changes needed to be made to the floor plan to accommodate a function, and in doing so we created a form that could be used to personalize the home.
